CALL FOR ABSTRACTS

We are pleased to invite trainees to submit abstracts for an abstract competition for the Metropolitan Endocrine Award. The categories for this year’s competition are Basic Science, Clinical Case Reports and Clinical Research. The material submitted can be something that has been shown previously at national meetings in 2019.

Our review committee at NYU Winthrop Hospital will review all submissions. Submissions will be accepted until 5:00 PM Tuesday, October  1, 2019. Judging will take place on Friday, October 11, 2019 and the Finalists will be announced on Tuesday, October 15, 2019. The first prize in each category is $500 and the second prize in each category is $300.

Objectives
At the end of this course, participants should be able to: 

  1. Explain the criteria for optimal IGF-1 dosing for the use of growth hormone therapy
  2. Interpret the diagnostic criteria of hyperthyroidism and the evidence-based approaches to therapy
  3. Articulate the best genetic approach to children with growth disorders
  4. Identify misconceptions involving the long-term risks of childhood obesity
  5. Describe examples of possible complications in the therapy and care of children and teenagers who have Turner Syndrome
  6. Interpret the diagnostic criteria of adrenal hyperplasia and the management approaches which include better communication among care providers
  7. Summarize the optimal methods of evaluating and treating children with growth disorders safely and effectively


CANCELLATION
Cancellation by NYU Winthrop Hospital: It is the policy of NYU Winthrop Hospital that in the unlikely event we must cancel a scheduled activity, all registered learners are immediately notified via email, with full refund offered where applicable. Wherever possible, our registration page of the website will be updated to reflect the activity cancellation. If we cancel less than 48 hours in advance of scheduled start time, we will also telephone all registered learners regarding the cancellation and refund. 

Cancellation by Learner: It is the policy of NYU Winthrop Hospital that if you the learner must cancel or withdraw before an activity for which you have previously registered, a handling fee of $25 will be deducted for cancellation. Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 5.0 MOC points in the American Board of Pediatrics’ (ABP) Maintenance  of Certification (MOC) program.  Participants will earn MOC points equivalent  to the amount  of CME credits  claimed  for the activity. It is the CME
activity provider’s responsibility to submit participation completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting  ABP MOC credit.
