For Nurses with Cardiac Monitoring Experience. This advanced EKG Course is designed to augment the 12 Lead EKG skills of the experienced nurse working in those areas where cardiac rhythms are routinely monitored. Course Content: axis, bundle branch and fascicular blocks, atrial and ventricular enlargement, infarct patterns, wide complex tachycardias, and miscellaneous drug and electrolyte effects noted on the 12 Lead EKG.


ANCC Learning Outcomes
  1. Discuss the four (4) types of axis deviation.
  2. Recognize the patterns of infarction on a 12 Lead EKG.
  3. Discuss the mechanism that causes a bundle branch block.
  4. Name the types of fascicular blocks.
  5. Define atrial and ventricular enlargement.
  6. List the EKG effects, related to hypokalemia, hyperkalemia, hypercalcemia and hypocalcemia.
