The purpose of this program is to provide education and orientation to all staff on the care of transplant patients. This program will be presented three times a year and will fulfill continuing education for staff as well as provide initial education for nurses who are new to transplantation. Staff to be included would be KP13, 15, 18, Thoracic and Abdominal staff in Operating Rooms, cath lab, and HCC 9.


ANCC Learning Outcomes
  1. Discuss intensive nursing care in the immediate post transplantation period.
  2. Identify specialized nursing and multidisciplinary care of patients throughout the perioperative transplant process
  3. Describe the complex medical care required with immunosuppression and polypharmacy
  4. Evaluate the diagnosis and treatment of infectious complications post transplantation
  5. Describe the process for donor selection in kidney, liver, heart and lung transplantation
